ACCESS MENTEES
Identify your strengths, build self-confidence and set goals for the future.
Why Be A Mentee?
ACCESS is a free personalised mentoring program to support you to identify your strengths, build self-confidence and set goals for the future.
If you feel ready to build your confidence, identify your strengths, and work towards study, employment, or wellbeing goals, we encourage you to apply for the ACCESS Program and take this step towards economic security!
Benefits of being a mentee
"My mentor was encouraging, honest and trustworthy. I felt that I wasn't alone. There was somebody supporting me”
WHO CAN BE A MENTEE
To be eligible to become an ACCESS Mentee you must be:
✰ Be aged 18+
✰ Be based in Greater Sydney
✰ Identify as a woman or non-binary
When applying to be a mentee in the ACCESS Program, please consider whether this is the right time for you to enter the program. If your immediate needs are more centered on safety, accomodation, or counselling, we recommend you first work with a social worker or counsellor, and apply to ACCESS when you feel that you have the time and energy to focus on goal setting.
If you are a case manager or community worker considering referring clients to the ACCESS Program, we would encourage you to reach out to the team by contacting access@wagec.org.au. The ACCESS Team is available to answer questions, discuss potential referrals, and can provide collateral about the program including a referral guide and FAQs.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Within 1-2 weeks of applying for the program, a member of the ACCESS Team will call you to discuss your application. They will explain how the program works, answer any questions you may have, and discuss your goals and what you hope to get out of this program.
You will then be matched with a Mentor within 1-2 weeks of your introductory phone call.
After you have been matched, you will communicate with your Mentor to decide when and where you will have your first meeting. During your first meeting, you will fill out a mentoring agreement.
For 3-6 months, you will meet with your Mentor approximately once a week. During these sessions, you can check in about your goals, discuss any setbacks, and celebrate your successes.
Throughout your mentoring journey, the ACCESS Team is available to provide support. The team also offers workshops, career open days, and other events throughout the year. You will receive information about what's on at ACCESS and in the community through monthly e-newsletters.
At the end of your 6-month mentoring relationship, you will have the option to be matched with another mentor if you would like additional support.
"I felt an incredible, strong connection from early on with my Mentor. The benefit is you’re not only getting support to achieve your goals, but you also build a relationship with your mentor."
