Meet the incredible Jordan!
Jordan has been supporting WAGEC's cooking program every Friday for over a year now. Our staff and clients absolutely love her and we feel very lucky to have her as a part of the WAGEC Community.
As Jiuli, WAGEC's Site Facilitator noted, "Jordan brings delicious ingredients and has taught us how to cook from the scratch. The clients love her, they check in with me every Friday to confirm she is still coming."
A big thank you to Jordan! Keep reading to learn about how Jordan got involved with WAGEC.
Who are you and how did you hear about WAGEC?
I am Jordan, 28 years old who is passionate about connections and community growth. I am a business owner who works in the area of holistic health, through food, movement, mental and emotional health and I aim to help my clients through those key pillars. With that comes my own journey around domestic violence and why I have become passionate about volunteering and working within this community.
I heard about WAGEC through my own research and applied to volunteer last year. I support them because of my own personal experiences and also that I have capacity and means to do so.
What is something you have learnt during your time volunteering?
I have learnt that you can never make an assumption about a person you do not know, the women I have worked with teaching to cook are so unique and special.
What does community mean to you?
To me community means coming together, team members, volunteers, staff all working together to make family’s feel safer and to hopefully create a loving experience.
