Meet Amber, WAGEC's new support worker!
Amber is a Support Worker at one of WAGEC's crisis accommodation sites for families. Her role is to support both clients and case managers. As a new social work graduate, Amber says she uses a feminist and strengths based approach to better communicate with clients who might be vulnerable when moving into the refuge. Although Amber only started as a support worker for WAGEC in April, she has been working to support the WAGEC team for more than a year through her social work placements.
When asked what she loves about her job, Amber replied: "Pretty much everything. I love being able to see how resilient the women are, it is really inspiring. It is really nice to see them support each other in the refuge. I love my job also because I love working with my colleagues. I feel grateful for all the kindness and support that I receive at WAGEC."
