Case Manager - Assess and Connect

The role

WAGEC’s Case Managers (Assess and Connect) work collaboratively with women, children and families that are accessing our Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) through our Redfern Office. The Assess and Connect (A&C) Case Manager is the first point of contact for clients accessing WAGEC. Our clients are women, with or without children who are escaping domestic violence, experiencing homelessness and/or systemic disadvantage and seeking support from WAGEC.

A&C Case Managers provide trauma-informed, strengths based and client centered assessment of situations and then connect the clients according to their immediate needs with the aim of improving client’s safety, self-sufficiency, and access to appropriate support. This focuses on providing a comprehensive initial assessment, triage, short term case planning and facilitating internal and external referrals.

A&C Case Managers are based at Redfern head office and work within a fast-paced, dynamic environment, alongside external agencies, WAGEC’s programs (DVRE, outreach case management, refuges, transitional, ACCESS and Stay Home leaving violence), as well as our Fundraising and Communities team.

The core responsibilities of the role are

  • Deliver case management to achieve client outcomes
  • Maintain personal, professional and program effectiveness
  • Program administration
  • Contribute to WAGEC’s organisational culture

About you

EXPERIENCE

  • Have demonstrated experience working with women and children escaping domestic and family violence, homelessness and other related complex needs.
  • Experience working in fast-paced front-line services such as drop-in, Intake or phone service, community engagement and/or volunteer run programs.
  • Have experience negotiating and advocating with relevant government systems including housing, immigration, child protection, mental health, AOD, Centrelink etc; applied knowledge of CIMS client database is considered favourably.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Trauma-informed, client-centred, strengths-based case management
  • NSW and government service systems
  • Intersectional feminist analysis of homelessness, disadvantage, and gender-based violence.

EDUCATION

  • Have qualifications and/or equivalent experience in the areas of youth work, social work, education, psychology, community services or other relevant fields.

OTHER CERTIFICATIONS

  • Working with Children Check
  • NSW Drivers licence
  • Criminal record check clearance. Having a criminal record does not automatically exclude
